Donations 2023

We would like to thank all of you for your many donations. We have been able to maintain current equipment and obtain new equipment in part thanks to your help. In order to fully outfit a single interior firefighter with PPE, the cost has increased to over $13,000. This sum is in addition to the costs of trucks, equipment and truck maintenance, building and water tank maintenance, water well and pump systems, etc. We appreciate all of your assistance. There are many faithful, generous donors - too many to name.

We would like to recognize one group from Highlands - Mountain Findings. These amazing folks take in good-quality donated furniture, appliances, and an infinite array of smaller items, and resell them. They then distribute the proceeds to deserving organizations in the area. Since 1996, they have donated close to $100,000 to help with the Department mortgage, turn-out gear including SCBAs, a generator, etc. Please support these folks' fine work by donating items you don't need and purchasing items you do need. They are located at 432 Spruce Street in Highlands, phone 828-526-9929. Their season is May through October.

In 2023, we also received two significant $10,000 donations, one from David Bock and Highlands Festivals, the other from Jeff Marlowe and Winfield Development.
